Improved Logic of Cost Calculation

We are pleased to announce an update to the calculation of costs for cases when the DnD (Detention and Demurrage) calculation end date is missing.

This update introduces a more realistic fallback mechanism to prevent costs from running indefinitely when contractual end events are delayed or missing.

To ensure your shipment costs remain as precise as possible, we have introduced the ATD (Actual Time of Departure) as a fallback end event for the Origin DnD calculations, if the shipment has departed, but the official end event is still missing.

The system now follows a clear hierarchy to determine the end of a DnD period:

  • Contractual End Event: Always prioritized as the primary stop point.
  • ATD Fallback: Used automatically if the shipment is shipped but the contractual event is missing.

Accuracy remains our priority. If a missing contractual end event is received after an ATD fallback has been applied, the system will automatically recalculate the cost to align with your contract, provided the cost is still in a Draft or In Progress status. The Approved, Released, or Rejected costs will remain unchanged.

Note: This logic has been applied retroactively to all existing shipments in the system.

For all active shipments where an Origin DnD calculation was running without an end event, the system has triggered a closure using the ATD. This ensures that your current financial reporting reflects realistic timelines and prevents runaway costs on older files.
